Whether you’re creating a small flower garden, or a backyard full of vegetables, all gardening requires tools. Our Gardening Tools Checklist covers everything you need for a small, medium, or large garden of flowers, vegetables, or other plants.
The Must Haves
An area large enough for plants to grow is a must to avoid overgrowth, or stunted growth. See what dimensions your intended crops grow to and measure your planting area.
Make sure the area is rich with soil, and use mulch/compost/another fertilizer to get it in shape before you begin planting. You should also use weed-pulling gloves or a weed killer to make the preparation process easier.
Other essentials you’ll need are a spade (for digging small holes), seeds, and a watering can or a watering hose system (depending on the size of the garden).
Extras
The bigger your garden is, the more upkeep it will require along with more tools. Wheelbarrows to carry mulch and soil, hedge trimmers to keep plants refined, cultivators to care for plants, and more will be needed. Mark off what you need on the list and delete what you don’t.
